Our Volunteers

Our volunteers are a friendly bunch. We often stop after a womble for a drink and a chat. 

Volunteering with the Selby Womblers offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community, meet like-minded individuals, and contribute directly to improving your surroundings. It provides a sense of accomplishment and pride in making a visible difference. The activity is also a great way to get some light exercise and fresh air, promoting physical and mental wellbeing.

How You Can Help

We are always pleased to welcome new volunteers to our activities. There is no commitment just join in when you have some free time.

You can join us by looking at looking at our Wombles or Events pages and just turn up to one if you want to help. 

Alternatively you can use the Contact page or email us on info@selbywomblers .org.uk to let us know that you are interested and for more information. We have all the necssary equipment that you will need. We do advise that you should wear strong shoes or boots as there can be nettles and sharp objects.

If you do not want to join a group womble, but would like to collect litter yourself, for example while you are dog walking, again please let us know and we can provide equipment. We also record all the litter collected and notify Keep Britain Tidy so you can use the web site to inform us of litter that you have collected on the Reports page.

Know of a Grot Spot?

If you cannot help on our Wombles we would still like to hear from you. Let us know if you think an area in Selby needs to be Wombled by using the Contact  page. We like nothing better than going to a place full of rubbish and leaving it looking fabulous.

We can work on most areas in Selby. However because of Health & Safety considerations there are some areas where we cannot litter pick, for example along a busy main road. Also we do not clear up fly tipping –for this you will need to contact the council. If you are not sure still let us know and we will get back to you.
